{According to what I found, Norrington was born in the 1710's and died in the 1740's. Crane is in his 30's during the American Revolutionary War, which means he'd be born somewhere around the time James was getting killed. There's just enough room for some slight overlap, but Crane would have been a baby, and so actual contact would have been minimal at best.}
